I have been using this service for quite some time and it has worked very well for me. My application is for the QR code to automatically open the text message platform with the fields populated. I have found on some rare occasions, i.e. Google Pixel, that a menu comes up or it brings the text components up in some sort of search bar.
To fix this, I mask the sms command using a URL shortener and send it out as a URL. That fixes the issue but the screen switches around a few times before the text platform opens. I also tried a meta redirect, but that prompts the phone to confirm that the user wants to do that.
I would love to know an elegant way to solve this problem.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience using our QR code service for SMS campaigns, @Gabe_O_Neill.
We understand you’re using a URL shortener to mask the SMS command to avoid the menu or search bar issue on certain devices like the Google Pixel. You’re right, because our QR code redirects to your shortened URL, the browser opens briefly, which could explain the screen switching you’re seeing. We also understand the meta redirect isn’t ideal due to the user confirmation prompt.
We’re actively looking into ways to improve this experience and minimize the screen transitions. To help us investigate this further, we’d be incredibly grateful if you could send us a screen recording of the following to support@the-qrcode-generator.com:
The current behavior: Show us exactly what happens when you scan a QR code that uses the direct sms campaign (without the URL shortener) on your Google Pixel. This will help us understand the specific issue you’re encountering.
The behavior with the URL shortener: Show us the screen switching you’re describing when using the shortened URL.
Seeing these examples will be invaluable in helping our team pinpoint the cause and develop a better solution.
We value your feedback and are committed to providing the best possible QR code experience. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and appreciate your patience as we work on this.
For the URL shortener I can do you one better. Here’s the QR code that originates that behavior. (Attached).
As far as the Google Pixel goes, I don’t have one. It was one of my prospects who confirmed that it came up in some kind of menu. It is a new OS as well as I understand. But I have seen this happen before.
He also said that the url shortened version worked.
