Understanding what’s what in the community

To avoid confusion, here are some definitions to begin with:

  1. Topic: A conversation that contains a series of messages, a title, and an Original Post. It’s listed in a specific category and contains replies in chronological order. Put simply, a thread.
  2. Post: A particular message within a topic. Posts can be from different authors. Each post represents an author’s opinion or perspective.
  3. Original Post (OP): The primary post in a topic. This communicates the topic’s intent and contains a title and relevant tags.
  4. Category: The home for topics. Each topic falls under a particular category. Categories help organize topics and are focused on a specific theme.
  5. Tags: Elements that help describe a topic. A particular topic can have multiple tags. You can add existing tags to topics or create new ones.
