I've attached a QR Code on a billboard at a high footfall location where I know users are interested in my offering? But users are not scanning the QR Code? What could be the reason?

I own a Doner kebab stall near a school football field. Every weekend, Sunday league football matches are played on the field. Many locals come to support their local teams in these matches, and they get snacks from the stalls nearby. I’ve put up a billboard with a QR Code that leads scanners to a digital ordering system that they can use to order snacks during the matches.

Yet I don’t see a alot of scans on the QR Code. How can I improve the scan number and get people to order online?

P.S - Before putting the QR Code and having a digital system in place, the regulars used to have my number, and they called me on my phone number to order food.

To answer your question on how to improve the scan rate, you need to know the answer to “What do customers actually want when they are scanning a QR Code?”

Luckily, recently, a report was released by Uniqode called State of QR Codes, and it tells us what the scan motivators are

  • Relevance of Use
  • Quality Design
  • Trusted Environment
  • Untampered QR Codes
  • Presence of Branding
